Visits for Summer Term 2025
Looking for something for the Summer Term? Have a visit from our newest member of the team, Laura Kirk-Francis.
Laura is available now to deliver our unique MFL Careers in Football and Sport workshop, which champions all the hidden life and employability skills gained from language learning that pupils often don’t realise.
Having discussed those skills, the workshop then explores a diverse range of careers in the football and sports industry, how the skills fit into each role and encourages pupils to start thinking about how languages can be their springboard to a dream career.
Schools that book Laura also have the opportunity to have some of the usual Mingalaba sessions you may have heard about, including Motivational Talks, Classroom Sessions and Practical Football Sessions.

FAQs
What would a visit typically involve?
We recommend a Motivational Talk from Laura first (approx. 30-45 mins) which can be for as many pupils as you like in the form of a large assembly. Then we suggest carefully selecting pupils to take part in the MFL Careers in Football and Sport workshop (approx. 45-60 mins) targeting those who are most likely to engage to maximise impact.
Can we add on additional sessions?
Yes, you can add on additional Motivational Talks, MFL Careers in Football and Sport workshops, or even some of the other Mingalaba sessions that you may have heard about. Request a quote using the form below to understand the various delivery options.
I’ve seen some amazing reviews about Mingalaba - will it be Steve Eadon delivering the sessions?
We are so thrilled that so many teachers have shared such lovely comments - we’ve never asked them to do so! Steve is practically fully booked, which is why Laura has been snapped up to help us reach even more schools and drive Mingalaba’s future growth. She is also a linguist, worked at Arsenal (with Steve) and has an equally interesting story to share.
Is it just for football fans?
For the Motivational Talk - not at all. Of course, given Laura’s professional experience, many of her anecdotes relate to the football world. But absolutely no assumed knowledge of football is required to understand the messages from the talk. For the MFL Careers in Football and Sport workshop - an interest in football is a “nice to have” given that the careers being explored are in the football and sports industry, but it’s worth noting that many jobs in sport exist in other industries too. Plus, if you have pupils who aren’t into football, but are open-minded and want to explore future career pathways with languages, they will probably find the workshop quite interesting too.
How many pupils can take part?
For a Motivational Talk, you can have as many pupils as you can fit into an assembly hall. For the MFL Careers in Football and Sport worskhop (and all other sessions) there is a maximum of 30 pupils per session. The only difference with the MFL Careers in Football and Sport workshop is that pupils will require a copy of the “50 Ways into Football” book by best-selling children’s author, Dan Freedman. These books will be provided on the day by Mingalaba through our partnership with Dan. The number of pupils that take part is dependent on the number of books you purchase. Everything you need to know, as well as various budgetary options, will be covered in the quote you receive from us.
How much does it cost?
We tailor our delivery specifically to each school, so please complete the form below to discuss your needs and obtain a quote.
What does the school need to provide?
For a Motivational Talk, the school just needs to provide a projector and screen to show my presentation. A microphone is always useful too where possible. For a MFL Careers in Football and Sport workshop, a projector and screen will be required to show the workshop slides, and pupils will need books or paper to write on. We will provide any other materials needed.
Do you cover the whole of the UK?
Yes.
I’m a PE teacher, would this be suitable for my pupils too, or is it just for MFL?
It can be for either or both. The PE and MFL departments generally work together anyway for a Mingalaba visit. There is crossover between the content we cover in our sessions and themes covered in GCSE and BTEC PE courses: how clubs operate behind the scenes, psychology, media, sponsorship, jobs in football and much more.
Would you come and speak at a school, university or event outside of the UK?
Potentially. Get in touch to discuss your needs - we’ll consider whether we can make it work.
