Mingalaba is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Consejería de Educación – the Education Office of the Spanish Embassy in London – to promote the Spanish language through football.
The Consejería de Educación aims to bring both Spanish language and culture closer to teachers, scholars, students and all those interested in Spain and Spanish-speaking countries.
Working together on a variety of initiatives, including football-themed teaching materials, events and the creation of exciting educational content, the partnership aims to use the global appeal of football to inspire school pupils in the UK to develop a love of the Spanish language and continue to study the subject at GCSE and beyond.
Steve Eadon, Founder of Mingalaba and former Project Lead of the Arsenal Double Club programme dissolved in 2021, said: “I am thrilled to be working with the Consejería de Educación once again. I think it’s well-known in the MFL teaching community that the Arsenal Double Club project achieved some incredible outcomes for many years before its closure, and that was in a large way thanks to the input of cultural partners like the Consejería de Educación. I am looking forward to working on some new, exciting plans to help pupils all over the country discover their love of Spanish.”
The Consejería de Educación added: “We are equally delighted to be working with Steve once again. His extensive experience and dedication to inspiring students in Modern Foreign Languages have been invaluable, as seen in the remarkable achievements of the Arsenal Double Club programme. We look forward to collaborating on new, dynamic initiatives that will ignite a passion for Spanish in students across the country.”
